A Dutch carrier, MUR Shipping B.V., established 1995, is the shipping division of Macsteel International Holdings BV, a joint venture company between Mittal Steel South Africa and Macsteel, an international trading company. Mittal Steel South Africa Ltd. is the largest steel producer in South Africa producing 6 million tons of crude steel in four steelworks, and Macsteel Holdings Group is the global steel trading and distribution organization which employs over 7,000 people in 30 countries worldwide with an annual sales exceeding US$5 billion.

MUR started operation as industrial carrier carrying ore, coal and steel products for their parent company, but now operates as common carrier with owned or chartered 90〜130 vessels of twin-decker, boxed-shape handy-max, panamax ranging 17,000〜70,000dwt. Also, MUR operates semi-liner service carrying steel products, fertilizer, excavator and heavy lift cargoes from Japan and other countries. MUR is also carrying these cargoes to and from various destinations. In the far east, MUR is offering service to China in regular base and also offering to middle east, USA and South America.
　

オランダ船社、MUR Shipping RSAは南アフリカ最大の鉄鋼メーカー、Mittal Steel South Africaと鋼材商社のMacsteel Holdingsとの合弁会社であるMacsteel International Holdings BVの船舶子会社として1995年に設立。Mittal Steelは高炉4基、粗鋼生産能力600万トン/年を持つ南アフリカ最大の鉄鋼メーカーで、一方のMacsteelは30カ国に7,000人の従業員を抱え、年間売上高50億ドルに達する鋼材商社です。


当初、MURは親会社の鋼材や原材料を輸送するインダストリアルキャリアーとしてスタートしましたが、現在ではBHPやNorsk Hydro、Glencoreなど大口顧客を獲得、ツインデッカーやボックスシェイプ型バルカーなど17,000〜70,000dwtまでのハンディ・マックス、パナマックス船を自社船、用船を合わせて90〜130隻を運航するコモンキャリアーとして活動しています。MURの一部航路ではセミライナーとして運航、日本やその他の諸国から鋼材を中心に化学肥料、建設機械、重車両などを輸送しています。 極東は中国を中心に定期的にサービスを提供、中近東向け、北米向け、アフリカ向けに広くサービスを提供しています。
